If you have garden with woods, mulch, dead leaves, rocks and compost piles, planting pots, then these are what attract spiders to your garden.

This year I have struggled to keep my garden clean and tidy and that was quiet invitation to those beautiful insects.
Those eight legged insects are so useful for us and for our gardens. Some even call them ‘’eight - legged pest -control officers’’. Although spiders build the webs to catch the insect - their food, they don`t make any distinction between pest. They help maintain a natural balance wherever they are.
Favourite snacks for those insects are those most likely destroying vegetable and fruits crops : wasps, flea beetles, aphids but also helpful caterpillars .
Having spiders in the garden can save harvest from destructive pest and keep those pest under control. In effect the plants stay healthy and much larger.
On average spiders in the gardens lives for about one year and females die in first frost, after they laid the eggs and the male usually die after.
Spiders use their sticky silk to create traps that will capture the bugs. I never seen this moment of catching the insect by spider but seen when it tightly wrapped the unfortunate insect in web and injected the venom into it.
Some spiders build the webs every day and others repair damaged webs and same with hunting- some prefer do it by night and other- during the day.

Next time if you have a choice of cleaning your garden or not just think twice.
Clearing away all dead plants, stalks or debris or leaving the garden bare in the winter time is not good idea and not only for the spiders but also for other insects.
Those insects need a safe area to overwinter. A bit messy garden is the perfect spot for them and next year you won`t need the pesticides. It is all the natural cycle and if you see the spider it means fewer plant fungal and bacterial diseases too.
Just simple- lets allow nature to take control and leave the spiders in charge of pest control.
